Entel DT522 Intrinsically Safe DMR Two-Way Radio (VHF IECEx IIA, Non-Display)
The Entel DT522 is an intrinsically safe DMR (Digital Mobile Radio) portable from the DTEx series, built for hazardous areas where explosive gas or dust makes an ordinary radio an ignition risk.
It is certified to IECEx Ex ib IIA T4 Gb. Gas group IIA covers propane-type atmospheres. Because IIA is not held to the 2 W EIRP ceiling that applies to IIC, these models transmit at a full 4 W, which means noticeably better range where the higher gas group is not required.
Please note: this variant is certified for markets outside the EU. For UK and EU sites, use the equivalent ATEX model.
Voice annunciation. With no screen to check, the radio speaks the channel back to you, plus confirmations such as keylock on or off and a low battery warning. It lets the user keep their eyes on the task.
This model
- Frequency range: VHF 136-174 MHz
- Transmit power: 4 W (high) / 1 W (low)
- Channels: 16, across 1 zone
- Display: none — voice annunciation confirms channel, keylock state and battery level instead
- Programmable buttons: 3
- Battery: CNB550EV2 1800 mAh Li-ion
- Battery endurance (5/5/90): 13.5 hours analogue, 16.5 hours digital (non-display models gain roughly a further 15%)
Built for hazardous areas
- IP68 to 2 metres for 4 hours — the highest submersibility rating of any manufacturer, and it holds even with the accessory cover removed.
- MIL-STD-810 C/D/E/F — thermal shock, humidity, shock, vibration, packing and drop tested.
- Lone Worker, Man Down and emergency button — three independent levels of alarm, all with call interrupt so an alarm gets through even when the channel is already busy.
- Personal attack button — sends an alarm call to other radios and sounds a local alarm.
- Validated accessory connector — any accessory plugged in is checked automatically, so a non-compliant accessory cannot quietly invalidate the intrinsic safety approval. Gold-plated, submersible and locking.
Operation and audio
- Ultra-tactile buttons and high-torque controls designed to be worked with gloves on
- Analogue and DMR digital modes, with mixed-mode operation for migrating a fleet gradually
- Two-slot simplex — both DMR timeslots are available without a repeater, doubling channel capacity
- Smart Speech Tailoring detects which accessory is connected and optimises the audio for it
- Multiple receive groups, talker alias, individual, group and all-call
- Supports third-party breathing apparatus comms kits
Licensed options
- AES 256-bit encryption (must be ordered with the radio)
- IP Site Roaming for seamless coverage across multiple DMR repeaters
End-user programming
A free drag-and-drop PC app is included. Your dealer emails you a programming file and you transfer it to the radio yourself — no need to return handsets or book a site visit to add features or apply updates.
